CHICAGO STREETS

I don’t mind it when they do the sidewalk cleaning on my streets.  I’m normally at work and when I come home I really don’t notice that the city has sent people out and cleaned the sidewalk.  It all looks the same to me.  It’s the street cleaning that bothers me.  I know they need to clean the streets and gutters and that there’s signs throughout the neighborhood telling you that it’s the 3rd Tuesday of every month and that you shouldn’t park on that side of the street.  But that’s the problem.  They have all day to come by and clean the streets and you never know when.  That also means you never know when you can park your car on that side of the street again.  The other side fills up and when I come home from work I can never find a space.  Most days, I have no problem.  On street cleaning days, I find it’s next to impossible to get a good spot.  I’ve just driven a half hour to and from work, stayed there for 8 hours doing my assignments, and then having to fight rush hour traffic on my way home.  The last thing I want to worry about is driving around and finding a place to leave my car in my own neighborhood.  Its just frustration added to all the other annoyances I have to put up with every single day. Sometimes, I’d rather just risk getting a ticket.
